AMS Western Sydney is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Medical Service and is run by local Aboriginal people for Aboriginal people. This allows the local Aboriginal community to have a say in the types of programs delivered and the employment of all staff. As a requirement of the AMS Western Sydney Constitution, a Board of Directors is elected annually by its members (all Aboriginal people from the local community) and the Board meets monthly. Election onto the Board ensures that local community members have an opportunity and involvement in the decisions and the implementation of various programs at AMS Western Sydney.
